First of all I want to thank the Light for establishing a new focus on the nations! I was really blown away at the passion our guest speaker had for God's global vision and how much time and energy he put in his slides. I like to think that I am up to speed on what is going on in this area, and it became clear that I am not. How humbling. I also wanted to thank the leadership team for making a point to immediately offer some opportunities for direct application of our call to be vitally connected to our Lord's global purposes. Some of the things I thought were cool to learn were;
The 10-40 window is shrinking!
There are almost 7 trillion people on the planet!
I'll have to review my notes and update my post.
Something else that pertains to this topic I learned recently is that China and Korea are sending missionaries to the USA! The #1 reason the 10-40 window has shrunk is due to Chinese believers.
I was also encouraged when the speaker mentioned fasting over lunch once a week and pray for the nations. There are a couple believers at my work and I've asked them if they would be interested in meeting one day each week over lunch in a conference room to pray for a country out of "Operation World". If you aren't aware of this book, it shares the spiritual status of almost all people groups in the world, and gives recommendations for what we can pray about when we pray for those people.
Lastly I am really excited to hear that we are trying to form a team to serve in Zambia. I was watching on the History Channel about how Zambia is the poorest country in Africa. I thought northern Thailand was poor. They were saying that the average Zambian makes the equivelent of $200 a year! How rich are we when the minimum wage will have us making $40/day?!?
Anyway, those are just my thoughts and I'm sure more will come.
Have a Blessed day! _________________ "Good is the enemy of Great" |
